Japanese production company toyo safety has created a line of helmets for speedy emergency evacuation that fold and collapse into a streamlined shape in a less than a minute. the ‘bloom’ helmet is strong enough to protect against falling debris in the case of an earthquake or natural disaster, while also able to tuck into itself, making it portable and easily transportable. while in its closed position, a cord attached to the back of the protective gear can be pulled-outward, expanding the adaptable panels into a concave form. two lanyards drop down from the crown of the helmet, working as the safety ties and buckles to be fitted around users chin. the series is available in four colors — yellow, orange-red, white, and gray and weighs only one pound. ‘bloom’ has been acknowledged as one of the ‘BEST 100′ of the japan g-mark good design award 2013.
